A sad goodbye for now

Hello

Its with extreme sadness that I have to write this post.

Our amazing beloved cat Thomas had to be put to sleep yesterday and I am truly devastated, I feel lost without him and I don't know how I am going to cope knowing I will not see him anymore.  He was a massive part of our lives and I literally feel bereft and lost.  I have spent all night and all morning crying, I have hardly slept and do not want to eat. I am living on painkillers as I have a constant headache and nothing is going to make it better. He is never coming back and this we both cannot deal with.

He made me laugh so much, he brightened my day and I will never ever forget him.

Tommy had feline aids and unfortunately there is no cure for this.  The vet reckons he had it all his life and it lay dormant in him but something triggered it, maybe a fight with another cat.

RIP Tommy

You will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts.  I think this poem sums up everything.

I am sorry but I won't be posting for a while I need to get myself together but I will be back as soon as I can.

Thank you

  3. Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss! Unless you've had a pet then it's hard to understand just how much of a friend and family member they are. I totally understand your pain. Take care hun, I hope you feel a little better soon!

  4. Oh no, I am so sorry :( Animals become part of the family and it's heart breaking when they die. I had to have my dog put down this Summer and I still expect to see her when I come downstairs in the mornings. That poem is beautiful x

  10. I found this so hard to read as it brought back so many painful memories. I'm so sorry, I know nothing we say can make the pain go away but you really did give Tommy the best life possible, he loved you to the very end and he isn't suffering. xxxxx

  11. Beautiful poem, it really does explain how it feels to lose a pet, my cat died last year of heart failure, still think of him a lot. RIP Tommy he was a lucky cat to have an owner that loved him so much.

  17. Oh Lisa-Jane, I am so sorry. You are justifiably devastated. I remember losing my ginger cat Noddy to feline Aids and it was so so sad- he looked just like Thomas, so I can feel your pain, just looking at him reminds me. You take care and remember that we all care here x

  25. I am so sorry to hear this. Cats are such wonderful companions and really make a home feel like home and Thomas was such a cutie.

You'll probably never stop missing him but the hurt and upset will slowly go so that you are left with lovely memories.

    RIP Thomas. x

  26. Hey hun, I meant to comment on this post when I first read it but my mobile wouldn't let me! I'm so terribly sorry for your loss. I 100% understand how it feels. My beloved elderly cat died at the beginning of year and I cried for weeks every night, I felt so alone. If you want to read just search RIP Magnus on my blog, it might make you feel better to relate!

Thomas is a gorgeous kitty. I wish you all the best xxxxx
